Female Female

Nutritional therapy may help a wide range of "women’s problems". Here are a few very common conditions that may be alleviated naturally.

Do you suffer from PMS, Fibroids or Endometriosis?

All 3 of these are characterised by a relative dominance of oestrogen over progesterone or an inability of your body to detoxify "used" natural oestrogens. Other factors may include stress, blood sugar imbalance and excessive exposure to xeno-oestrogens (man-made, toxic oestrogenic compounds) found in some toiletries, plastics and foods.

We believe that no woman should have to suffer because she is a woman. Nutritional therapy offers a powerful, safe tool which may help alleviate these complaints.

We also run programmes for other hormonal imbalances such as PCOS.

Menopause

In the West menopause (or rather the period leading up to it, called the peri-menopause) is treated as a disease rather than as a natural progression in a woman’s life. Nutritional therapy may help smooth the transition and lessen unpleasant effects such as low libido, dryness, hot flushes and mood issues.

Many of these symptoms are related to impaired ability to absorb certain minerals (such as zinc) at this stage of life.

Did you know?

  • Defiencies of the zinc and magnesium are linked to low mood, stress and low libido.
  • A diet low in vitamin E rich foods also can contribute to dry skin, vaginal dryness and lowered libido.
  • Smoking, low-fat diets and consumption of inadequate vitamin C all deplete vitamin E.

Osteoporisis and Osteopoenia

Nutritional therapy may be particularly useful in the treatment of osteopoenia (or bone thinning), which is a percursor to osteoporosis. Our osteoporosis programme involves a non-invasive laboratory testing at the outset to measure the rate at which bone is being lost. This can be measured again after nutritional and lifestyle changes over several months so that progress can be tracked over time. This is particularly important in osteopoenia, as it is has no symptoms until it has progressed to osteoporosis. Osteopoenia is a highly-treatable condition.

Did you know?

  • Western cultures have very high calcium intake – and a much higher rate of osteoporosis than cultures where calcium intake (especially from dairy) is lower.
  • Other nutrients, such as magnesium (found in green vegetables, beans and pulses) are vital for bone health.
  • Diets that are very high in meat, dairy and grains, produce a high acid residue diet, resulting in increased strain on the kidneys and increased need for magnesium-rich foods to neutralise this acidity in the body
  • Stress causes your bones to release calcium into the blood, contributing to and accellarating bone loss.

Our osteoporosis programme involves not only diet and nutrition coaching but also simple, easy stress management techniques where appropriate.
